Probably this dress-up style playset papercraft, a magazine actually, was published between the mid-1930s and early 1940s in the United States.
I think this is because of the style of the character, the costume, which looks a lot like the first comics and also because of the weapons, tanks and planes, in a very post-war style.
The story of the creation of Superman is very interesting: Jerry Siegel, fresh out of high school, published a story in January 1933 called “The Reign of the Superman”, featuring a mad scientist who takes a beggar and gives him telepathic abilities.
This Superman turns on his creator and kills him and starts taking over the world. In the story, the plan fails as his powers begin to fade and, in the end, he returns to being a mere beggar.
Siegel continued to develop his character and, with the help of his friend, the illustrator Joe Shuster, were shaping what would become Superman as we know him today: a being from another planet who falls to Earth and needs to hide his identity and strength while fighting various criminals.
For several years, they sold their comic strips to local newspapers, without much success, until one day a publisher that would become DC Comics asked them to rework it into a 13-page story for Action Comics magazine #1. . The rest is history...
