Leonardo Da Vinci Glider Paper Model - by Koichi Kiyonaga

Created by Japanese designer Koichi Kiyonaga, for Canon website, here is the Leonardo Da Vinci Glider, a very original paper model that is perfect for School Works. Leonardo di Ser Piero da Vinci (April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519) was an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer. His genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance Man, a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination". - He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. - I say thanks to my friend Jo Kizinger for this beautiful find!

Da Vinci`s Mechanical Hammer Automata Paper Model - by Paper Pino

PhotobucketThis is one of the simplest machines designed by Leonardo in order to improve the human performance. A lever connected to the hammer is moved by means of an eccentric cam. At each turn of the handle, the hammer gives a stroke. As a matter of fact, the real hammer is supposed to be powered by a water paddle-wheel. An implementation with a paddle-wheel powered by sand is planned for the next future. - Paper Pino

- Paper Pino

Leonardo da Vinci's Anemometer Paper Model - by Paper Pino

Leonardo by Hinself
By Italian designer Paper Pino, here is a perfect replica of the Leonardo da Vinci's Anemometer. Historians stipulate that it was Leonardo da Vinci’s fascination with flight that inspired him to innovate the anemometer, an instrument for measuring the speed of wind. His hope was that, eventually, the device could be used to give people insight into the direction of the wind before attempting flight. While da Vinci did not actually invent the device, he did make variations on the existing designed originated by Leon Batista in 1450 (da Vinci’s design was probably made between 1483 and 1486) so that it was easier to measure wind force. Next to his sketches of the anemometer, da Vinci made the following notes: "For measuring distance traversed per hour with the force of the wind. Here a clock for showing time is required." Da Vinci’s anemometer has an arched frame with a rectangular piece of wood hanging in the center by a hinge. When the wind blows, it raises the piece of wood inside the arched frame. Printed on the frame would be a scale. By noting the highest point that the wood reached on the scale, a person could measure the force of the wind. - Leonardo.da.Vinci.Inventions

Leonardo`s  Anemometer Sketch
Inventions

Leonardo Da Vinci`s Ornithopter Paper Model - by Rozhlas

Photobucket

PhotobucketLeonardo Da Vinci’s fascination with machines began when he was merely a boy. His earliest sketches depict the inner workings of various machines from his era. Eventually, his creativity led to the outlines of flying machines, weapons and musical instruments. Leonardo first became enamored with the idea of flight in the 1480s. He designed what is called the ornithopter flying machine. Although the invention never came to fruition during his time, many believe that the helicopter was indeed inspired by Da Vinci. His creations may also have given rise to today’s hand glider and parachute.
