DSV Shinkai 6500 Submersible Paper Model - by Toshimasa Mitsutake

Created by Japanese designer and modeler Toshimasa Mitsutake, this is a very detailed paper model version of the DSV Shinkai 6500 Submersible, a manned research submersible that can dive up to a depth of 6,500 metres (21,300 ft). It was completed in 1990 and it had the greatest depth range of any manned research vehicle in the world until June 19, 2012, where its record was beaten by Jiaolong, which dived at 6,965 metres (22,851 ft). The Shinkai 6500 is owned and run by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) and it is launched from the support vessel Yokosuka. Two pilots and one researcher operate within a 73.5 mm-thick (2.89 in) titanium pressure hull with an internal diameter of 2.0 metres (6 ft 7 in). I want to say thanks to my friend Jo Kizinger for more one great find!

WW2`s Japanese Submarine Aircraft Carrier I-400-Class Paper Model
In 1/200 Scale - by Paper Model Studio

This detailed paper model version in 1/200 scale of the WW2`s Japanese Submarine Aircraft Carrier I-400-Class is offered by Paper Model Studio, Japanese website. The I-400-class submarines from Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) were the largest submarines of World War II and remained the largest ever built until the construction of nuclear ballistic missile submarines in the 1960s. They were submarine aircraft carriers able to carry three Aichi M6A Seiran aircraft underwater to their destinations. They were designed to surface, launch their planes, then quickly dive again before they were discovered. They also carried torpedoes for close-range combat. They are considered the strategic predecessors to today’s ballistic submarines, especially to the Regulus missile program begun about a decade after World War II. The I-400 class was designed with the range to travel anywhere in the world and return. A fleet of 18 boats was planned in 1942, and work started on the first in January 1943 at the Kure, Hiroshima arsenal. Within a year the plan was scaled back to five, of which only three (I-400 at Kure, and I-401 and I-402 at Sasebo) were completed. - know more at I.400.Class.Submarine.at.Wikipedia

Classe.I.400.na.Wikipedia
