In addition to the templates in. JPG format, in the .rar file you will find the model in its Sketchup and Pepakura versions, to help with the assemble and for those who want to modify the truck.

The Real Thing

The giant squid is a very deep-ocean dwelling squid in the family Architeuthidae, represented by as many as eight species. Giant squid can grow to a tremendous size: recent estimates put the maximum size at 13 m (43 ft) for females and 10 m (33 ft) for males from the posterior fins to the tip of the two long tentacles (second only to the colossal squid at an estimated 14 m (46 ft), one of the largest living organisms). The mantle is about 2 m (6.6 ft) long (more for females, less for males), and the length of the squid excluding its tentacles is about 5 m (16 ft). Claims of specimens measuring 20 m (66 ft) or more have not been scientifically documented. On 30 September 2004, researchers from the National Science Museum of Japan and the Ogasawara Whale Watching Association took the first images of a live giant squid in its natural habitat. Several of the 556 photographs were released a year later. The same team successfully filmed a live adult giant squid for the first time on 4 December 2006. - Wikipedia

The Template

A lula-gigante é um cefalópode da ordem Teuthida, conhecido por ser o segundo maior invertebrado existente na terra, perdendo apenas para a lula-colossal. As oito espécies do género habitam as profundezas dos oceanos e podem atingir comprimentos de 10 metros para os machos e 13 metros para as fêmeas, medido desde a barbatana caudal à ponta dos tentáculos. A lula-gigante tem ainda um dos maiores olhos de todas as criaturas vivas, apenas ultrapassado pelo da lula-colossal. As ventosas dos tentáculos podem atingir até 5 cm de diâmetro. Já foram encontrados diversos exemplos de marcas destas ventosas cravadas nas cabeças de cachalotes, que são predadores das lulas-gigantes. A sua existência foi considerada um mito da criptozoologia por muito tempo, mas a descoberta de corpos e juvenis no estado larval veio mostrar que este animal existe mesmo. Finalmente, em Setembro de 2004, a equipe do pesquisador japonês Tsunemi Kubodera do Museu Nacional Científico de Tóquio, e Kyoichi Mori, da Associação de Observação das baleias Ogasawara, conseguiu fotografar pela primeira vez na história um exemplar vivo no Pacífico norte, perto das ilhas Ogasawara. O animal de oito metros de comprimento agarrou-se a uma isca, presa a uma corda e lançada a 900 metros de profundidade por Kubodera. O espécime lutou por quatro horas para se libertar, amputando um dos tentáculos no processo. O tentáculo media cerca de 5,5 metros e foi resgatado pelos cientistas, ainda vivo e se movendo. As centenas de fotos obtidas foram divulgadas apenas um ano depois, numa revista científica. Outras provas, são as diversas notícias a respeito de pescadores que pescaram lulas-gigantes. Em 10 de Julho de 2012, cientistas japoneses filmaram pela primeira vez uma lula gigante viva no seu habitat natural, a centenas de metros de profundidade, num projecto em conjunto com o Discovery Channel e o Museu Nacional de Ciência e Natureza do Japão. O animal foi localizado a 630 metros de profundidade, a partir de um submersível com três tripulantes a bordo, ao largo da ilha de Chichijima, a cerca de 1000 quilómetros ao sul de Tóquio. - Wikipedia
