I'm happy to share on the blog this delightful project by my friend Aaron Akselrud, from the United States.
He built an entire miniature town using only free paper models from the Hope Valley Printables website, a beautiful collection of richly illustrated Old West-style buildings.
The models include saloons, warehouses, blacksmith shops, libraries, and hotels, all with that small 19th-century town charm.
Aaron arranged the models on a cardboard base and added amazing details like a painted mountain backdrop, characters on balconies, horse-drawn carriages, an old car, and even a dirt road made using fine sandpaper, a clever and realistic touch.
Below is the note that Aaron himself wrote about his experience. What began as a small project with one or two buildings became a gift of joy for his great-grandchildren:
"Some years back, more than I can remember, I developed an interest in cutting out and building paper models. I bumped into the Canon Creative Park website and assembled many of their architectural models.
I also purchased online books which were cut out paste and assemble. And then fortunately, I bumped into Papermau. I visited the site on a daily basis for new projects and I was intrigued by the Hope Valley project.
What started out as a simple one or two building project it evolved into a 17-building mini city complete with background and ground textures. To create a road, I used fine sandpaper which I cut and trimmed to size.
When the project was finally completed, I found it difficult to bring it upstairs from my basement workroom. However, after some effort, I brought it up and delivered it to my great grandchildren, they loved it.
I look forward to many many more projects from Papermau, thank you for being there."

Tenho o prazer de apresentar aqui no blog um projeto encantador feito pelo meu amigo Aaron Akselrud, dos Estados Unidos.
Ele montou uma cidadezinha completa utilizando apenas papercrafts do site Hope Valley Printables, um projeto gratuito com modelos que remetem ao Velho Oeste americano, ricamente ilustrados e cheios de personalidade.
Os edifícios incluem saloons, armazéns, ferrarias, bibliotecas e hotéis, todos com aquele charme de cidade pequena do século XIX.
Aaron organizou os modelos sobre uma base feita de papelão e adicionou detalhes incríveis, como um fundo montanhoso que dá profundidade à cena, personagens nas sacadas, carroças, um carro antigo e até uma rua feita de lixas, que simula perfeitamente o solo de terra batida.
A seguir, compartilho com vocês o relato escrito pelo próprio Aaron sobre essa jornada criativa, que começou de forma modesta e terminou como um verdadeiro presente para seus bisnetos:
"Há alguns anos, mais do que consigo me lembrar, desenvolvi um interesse por recortar e montar modelos de papel. Esbarrei no site Canon Creative Park e montei muitos dos modelos arquitetônicos de lá.
Também comprei livros online para recortar, colar e montar. E então, felizmente, encontrei o Papermau. Passei a visitar o site diariamente em busca de novos projetos, e fiquei intrigado com o projeto Hope Valley.
O que começou como algo simples, com um ou dois prédios, evoluiu para uma mini cidade com 17 edifícios, completa com fundo e texturas de chão. Para criar a rua, usei uma lixa fina que cortei e ajustei ao tamanho.
Quando o projeto finalmente ficou pronto, foi difícil levá-lo do porão até o andar de cima. No entanto, depois de algum esforço, consegui levar tudo e entreguei aos meus bisnetos. Eles adoraram.

About the Ephemeral Museum:
I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like.
With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years.
I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal. Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo.
Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração. Hoje eu estou inaugurando uma nova sessão aqui no blog, o Ephemeral Museum, que é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos.
Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:
