Build Your Own Seagull - A Fun Papercraft To Color And Dress Up by Krokotak

Krokotak, a Russian educational website for kids, has appeared many times here on the blog, and I have always liked the projects from this website because they start with very simple ideas and leave a good part of the work to children's imagination.

This friendly seagull is a great example. At first glance, it may look like just another easy papercraft to cut out and assemble, but the idea goes a little beyond simply putting the model together.

The template is provided in black and white, so even before assembling it, each child can decide what their seagull will look like. There are no right or wrong colors. Colored pencils, crayons, markers or paint can be used to create any combination they like.

And then comes the most amusing part. The seagull also works as a kind of dress-up paper toy, since the template includes several accessories that can be cut out, colored and combined in different ways.

There is a woolly hat, a beret, a scarf, a bandana, glasses and even little fish to complete the character. Using exactly the same template, one child can create a sailor seagull, another can make a beret-wearing artist, another a cool seagull with dark glasses, and so on.

The photos in this post show the possibilities very well. By changing only the colors and accessories, each seagull gets a completely different personality. And there is nothing stopping children from inventing new accessories using scraps of paper, such as hats, ties, bags or anything else their imagination suggests.

The base itself is also part of the fun, creating a small setting for the bird while allowing the finished model to stand upright. In the end, we have something almost like a little paper character with its own tiny piece of beach.

Besides being fun, this activity brings several things together in a single project: coloring, cutting, assembling, combining shapes and colors and, most importantly, creating something personal. If several children make the same model, it is very unlikely that any two seagulls will look exactly alike.

As with so many other Krokotak projects that have already appeared here on Papermau, the idea is simple, accessible and does not require any special materials. Paper, scissors, glue and something to color with are practically all that is needed.

So print the template, spread some pencils and markers across the table and let each little artist create their own seagull. I think the most interesting part will be discovering what kind of character appears at the end.

O Krokotak, um site deducativo russo para crianças, já apareceu muitas vezes aqui no blog e eu sempre gostei dos projetos desse site porque eles partem de ideias muito simples e deixam uma boa parte do trabalho para a imaginação das crianças.

Esta simpática gaivota é um ótimo exemplo disso. À primeira vista parece apenas mais um papercraft fácil de recortar e montar, mas a proposta vai um pouco além da simples montagem.

O template é oferecido em preto e branco e, antes mesmo da montagem, cada criança pode decidir como será sua gaivota. Não existem cores certas ou erradas. Vale usar lápis de cor, giz de cera, canetinhas ou tinta e inventar a combinação que quiser.

E depois vem a parte mais divertida. A gaivota funciona também como uma espécie de dress-up paper toy, pois o template traz vários acessórios que podem ser recortados, coloridos e combinados de diferentes maneiras.

Tem gorro, boina, lenço, bandana, óculos e até peixinhos para completar o personagem. Assim, usando exatamente o mesmo template, uma criança pode criar uma gaivota marinheira, outra pode fazer uma artista de boina, outra uma gaivota de óculos escuros e por aí vai.

As fotos desta postagem mostram muito bem as possibilidades. Mudando apenas as cores e os acessórios, cada gaivota ganha uma personalidade completamente diferente. E nada impede que as crianças inventem novos acessórios em pedaços de papel, como chapéus, gravatas, bolsas ou qualquer outra coisa que a imaginação mandar.

A própria base também faz parte da brincadeira, formando um pequeno cenário para a ave e fazendo com que o modelo pronto fique em pé. No final, temos quase um pequeno personagem de papel com seu próprio pedacinho de praia.

Além de divertida, é uma atividade que reúne várias coisas em um único projeto: colorir, recortar, montar, combinar formas e cores e, principalmente, criar algo pessoal. Se várias crianças fizerem o mesmo modelo, dificilmente duas gaivotas ficarão iguais.

Como acontece com tantos outros projetos do Krokotak que já passaram pelo Papermau, a proposta é simples, acessível e não exige materiais especiais. Papel, tesoura, cola e alguma coisa para colorir são praticamente tudo o que é necessário.

Então imprima o template, espalhe os lápis e canetinhas pela mesa e deixe cada pequeno artista criar a sua própria gaivota. Acho que a parte mais interessante será justamente descobrir que tipo de personagem vai aparecer no final.

T-72 Main Battle Tank Paper Model In 1/72 Scale - by Kamino-SS

Here is another impressive paper model created by Japanese designer Hiroaki Haruto Kawamura, from Kamino-SS, an artist whose work has already appeared several times here on the blog.

This time the subject is quite different from some of his simpler models. It is a detailed paper reproduction of the famous T-72 main battle tank in 1/72 scale.

Despite its relatively small scale, this is definitely not a model for beginners. Kawamura himself rates the difficulty at four out of five stars and estimates that the complete assembly can take up to ten hours.

What makes this model even more interesting is that, despite all this detail, the complete T-72 template fits on just one sheet of paper.

The model reproduces very well the characteristic low silhouette of the T-72, with its compact rounded turret, long main gun, tracks, external fuel tanks and the group of smoke grenade launchers around the turret.

One interesting detail is that the commander and gunner hatches can also be assembled in the open position using optional parts.

Kawamura paid special attention to the final appearance of the model. Some parts do not have conventional glue tabs and need to be joined directly along their edges, while certain fold lines were deliberately kept discreet so they do not interfere with the finished appearance.

Fortunately, the Kamino-SS website provides an excellent photographic tutorial showing practically the entire assembly process, from the hull and tracks to the turret and main gun. There is also a separate diagram showing the cutting and folding lines, something particularly useful considering the complexity of the model.

The real T-72 was developed in the Soviet Union in the late 1960s and entered service in the early 1970s. It became one of the most widely produced main battle tanks of its generation and, through numerous versions and modernizations, was adopted by many countries around the world.

According to Kawamura, this model represents the T-72 in a relatively early configuration, typical of the Cold War period. Among its most recognizable features are the compact turret, the long main gun and the smoke grenade launchers installed at the front of the turret.

Hiroaki Haruto Kawamura is already an old acquaintance here on Papermau. He has been creating paper models since 2006 and his projects cover an impressive variety of subjects, ranging from small cars, mascots and everyday objects to ships, industrial machinery and much more elaborate models such as this T-72.

One thing I particularly like about his work is that the complexity seems to follow the subject rather than a fixed formula. Some Kamino-SS models can be assembled by beginners with only a few parts, while others, like this tank, were clearly designed for modelers looking for a real challenge.

For this T-72, Kawamura recommends matte printing paper approximately 0.2 mm thick. A good pair of tweezers will also be almost essential, especially when working with the smaller details of the turret.

If you enjoy military vehicles, 1/72 scale miniatures, wargames or simply want a slightly more challenging papercraft project, this little T-72 should provide several good hours of cutting, folding and gluing.

Desta vez o tema é um pouco diferente de alguns de seus modelos mais simples. Trata-se de uma detalhada reprodução em papel do famoso tanque T-72, na escala 1/72.

Apesar da escala relativamente pequena, este definitivamente não é um modelo para iniciantes. O próprio Kawamura classifica a dificuldade com quatro de cinco estrelas e estima que a montagem completa pode levar até dez horas.

O que torna este modelo ainda mais interessante é que, apesar de todos esses detalhes, o template completo do T-72 ocupa apenas uma folha de papel.

O modelo reproduz muito bem a característica silhueta baixa do T-72, com sua torre compacta e arredondada, o longo canhão principal, as esteiras, os tanques externos de combustível e o conjunto de lançadores de granadas fumígenas ao redor da torre.

Um detalhe interessante é que as escotilhas do comandante e do artilheiro também podem ser montadas abertas, utilizando peças opcionais.

Kawamura teve um cuidado especial com a aparência final do modelo. Algumas peças não possuem as tradicionais abas de colagem e precisam ser unidas diretamente pelas bordas, enquanto certas linhas de dobra foram mantidas discretas para não interferirem no acabamento.

Felizmente, no site Kamino-SS há um excelente tutorial fotográfico mostrando praticamente todo o processo de montagem, desde o casco e as esteiras até a torre e o canhão principal. Há também um diagrama separado indicando as linhas de corte e dobra, algo bastante útil considerando a complexidade do modelo.

O T-72 verdadeiro foi desenvolvido na União Soviética no final da década de 1960 e entrou em serviço no início dos anos 1970. Tornou-se um dos tanques de batalha mais produzidos de sua geração e, através de inúmeras versões e modernizações, foi adotado por diversos países ao redor do mundo.

Segundo Kawamura, este modelo representa o T-72 em uma configuração relativamente antiga, típica do período da Guerra Fria. Entre suas características mais reconhecíveis estão justamente a torre compacta, o longo canhão principal e os lançadores de granadas fumígenas instalados na parte frontal da torre.

Ele cria modelos de papel desde 2006 e seus projetos abrangem uma variedade impressionante de temas, indo de pequenos carros, mascotes e objetos do cotidiano até embarcações, máquinas industriais e modelos bem mais elaborados, como este T-72.

Uma coisa que gosto particularmente em seus trabalhos é que a complexidade parece acompanhar o tema, em vez de seguir uma fórmula fixa. Alguns modelos do Kamino-SS podem ser montados por iniciantes com poucas peças, enquanto outros, como este tanque, foram claramente pensados para quem procura um verdadeiro desafio.

Para este T-72, Kawamura recomenda papel fosco com aproximadamente 0,2 mm de espessura. Uma boa pinça também será praticamente indispensável, principalmente na montagem dos pequenos detalhes da torre.

Back in 2021, when I first featured the amazing architectural papercraft collection created by the Russian team from Felis Lynx, the project already impressed me with its originality, realism and generosity. At that time there were only 18 models available, all based on real architectural projects and offered completely free for download.

Years passed and the collection continued to grow steadily. In 2025, I revisited the project here on the blog when the number of models had already reached an incredible 63 buildings, ranging from charming countryside houses to modern residences and elegant urban constructions, all designed in a beautiful 1/100 scale style with very clean and professional graphics.

Now the good people from Felis Lynx have kindly contacted me once again to share another great piece of news with the papercraft community: all models are also available through their official Telegram channel, making access even easier for hobbyists around the world.

According to the creators themselves, all house project models can now be downloaded completely free and without the need for registration, something increasingly rare nowadays and certainly worthy of recognition and praise.

For those who still do not know this fantastic collection, it is truly worth a visit. The models are perfect for architectural studies, dioramas, model railroads, RPG and wargames, or simply for anyone who appreciates beautifully designed paper architecture. The clean textures, realistic proportions and wide variety of styles make this one of the most interesting architectural papercraft collections currently available online.

According to recommendations provided by the creators on the official website, the models are supplied in PDF format and designed for A4 paper size. The recommended paper weight is 200 gsm for the best results and structural stability. For proper scale and fitting, the files should be printed without resizing.

I would also like to thank the Felis Lynx team for their kindness, generosity and continued support of the papercraft community throughout all these years. Projects like this help keep the hobby alive, accessible and inspiring for paper modelers all around the world.

Saleen S7 Super Car Papercraft In 1/24 Scale - by SeyforeG

Created by the talented Russian designer SeyforeG Design Papercraft, this impressive paper model reproduces the Saleen S7-R GT1, one of the most iconic racing versions of the legendary American supercar Saleen S7. The model represents car number 66 and faithfully captures the aggressive lines, aerodynamic profile and distinctive details that made the S7-R one of the standout competitors in GT and endurance racing during the early 2000s.

The Saleen S7 was developed by Saleen Automotive in collaboration with Steve Saleen and British engineer Ray Mallock, who was responsible for the chassis, suspension and aerodynamic design. Officially unveiled in 2000 during the Monterey Historic Races in California, the car was conceived from the very beginning to compete in the world's most prestigious endurance events. From this ambition came the Saleen S7-R GT1, a competition version specifically built for championships such as FIA GT, the American Le Mans Series and the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.

According to the designer, this model was created with special attention to the shapes and proportions of the original vehicle. The parts were refined and carefully organized to simplify the assembly process without compromising the final appearance, resulting in an elegant and highly accurate papercraft model. Although it is not an excessively complex build, it does require patience and dedication to achieve the best results.

You can then use the PDF templates to print the model pieces normally, while the PDO file serves as an excellent assembly guide, as it allows you to view the model in 3D and rotate all parts freely during construction. Hollow Knight - Hornet "The Needle Princess" Miniature Paper Toy by IridiumWolframium

This cute miniature papercraft of Hornet, from the acclaimed videogame Hollow Knight, was created by the talented designer known as IridiumWolframium, from Iridescent Web website. Even though this is a small and relatively simple model, it perfectly captures the elegant and mysterious look of one of the most beloved characters in the game. With her iconic white mask, needle-shaped weapon and red cloak, Hornet became one of the great symbols of the Hollow Knight universe and gained a huge fanbase around the world​.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Hollow Knight was developed by the Australian independent studio Team Cherry and originally released in 2017. Mixing exploration, action and fast-paced combat in a vast underground kingdom called Hallownest, the game quickly became one of the most respected indie titles of recent years. Its hand-drawn visuals, melancholic atmosphere, memorable soundtrack and gameplay inspired by classic “Metroidvania” games helped turn Hollow Knight into a true phenomenon among videogame fans.

Hornet is one of the most important characters in the story. Agile, intelligent and extremely skilled, she appears several times during the adventure, sometimes helping and sometimes challenging the player. Her striking visual design and strong personality were so well received that she eventually earned her own game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, currently one of the most anticipated indie releases among fans of the genre.

This little papercraft occupies only one single sheet and is perfect for decorating desks, shelves, gaming setups or collections of videogame-inspired miniatures. Once assembled, the model measures approximately 8 cm tall, 5 cm wide and 4 cm deep, making it a compact and very charming display piece.
