Vintage Texaco Gas Pumps Papercraft Set - A Papermau Classic Returns - Download Now!

This is one of those models that are part of the history of the Papermau blog. Originally published in October 2012, it eventually became unavailable when the download link stopped working. I took the opportunity to reorganize the project, revise the template sheet and make the model available again as a much cleaner and better organized PDF file. The papercraft itself remains exactly the same, but it is now much more enjoyable to print and assemble.

The model represents a small set inspired by vintage Texaco gas stations, featuring two fuel pumps mounted on a base and a central post holding advertising signs on both sides. It is a simple accessory, but one that works very well with dioramas, garages, workshops, gas stations and vintage urban scenes.

The final scale is approximately between 1/24 and 1/30, depending on the paper format used for printing. To achieve a good balance between strength and ease of assembly, I recommend using paper weighing between 120 and 160 gsm. You can also have fun experimenting with the scale by reducing it. For example, you can set your printer to print two pages per sheet, allowing you to build two complete sets on a single sheet at approximately half the original scale.

A small detail that makes a big difference in the final result is the fuel pump hoses. On the assembled model shown in the photos, I used two short pieces of gray telephone wire approximately 3 mm in diameter. This gives the pumps a much more realistic appearance and allows the hoses to hang naturally beside them.

I should also point out that I was never concerned with making this set historically accurate. Most likely, the fuel pumps and the hanging Texaco sign belong to different periods in the company's history, but historical accuracy was never my goal. Back in 2012, I simply thought the two elements looked good together, and I still feel exactly the same way today.

I hope this small re-release allows new visitors to discover one of the earliest original Papermau models, while giving longtime readers the chance to revisit a little piece of the blog's early days, now presented in a cleaner, better organized and much easier to assemble version.

Este é um daqueles modelos que fazem parte da história do blog Papermau. Originalmente publicado em outubro de 2012, ele acabou ficando indisponível quando o link para download deixou de funcionar. Aproveitei a oportunidade para reorganizar o projeto, revisar a folha de montagem e disponibilizar o modelo em um arquivo PDF muito mais limpo e organizado. O papercraft continua sendo exatamente o mesmo, mas agora está muito mais agradável de imprimir e montar.

O modelo representa um pequeno conjunto inspirado em antigos postos de gasolina da Texaco, composto por duas bombas de combustível montadas sobre uma base e um poste central sustentando placas publicitárias em ambos os lados. É um acessório simples, mas que combina muito bem com dioramas, garagens, oficinas, postos de gasolina e cenários urbanos de época.

A escala final fica aproximadamente entre 1/24 e 1/30, dependendo do formato do papel utilizado na impressão. Para obter um bom equilíbrio entre resistência e facilidade de montagem, recomendo utilizar papel com gramatura entre 120 e 160 g/m². Você também pode brincar com a escala reduzindo-a. Basta configurar sua impressora para imprimir duas páginas por folha, obtendo assim dois conjuntos completos em uma única folha, cada um com aproximadamente metade da escala original.

Um pequeno detalhe que ajuda bastante no resultado final são as mangueiras das bombas. No modelo montado mostrado nas fotografias, utilizei dois pequenos pedaços de fio de telefonia cinza com aproximadamente 3 mm de diâmetro, o que deu um aspecto muito mais realista e permitiu posicionar as mangueiras de forma natural ao lado das bombas.

Deixo claro também que eu nunca tive a preocupação de buscar uma reprodução historicamente exata neste conjunto. Muito provavelmente o modelo das bombas de combustível e a placa suspensa pertencem a épocas diferentes da história da Texaco, mas isso nunca foi uma prioridade para mim. Em 2012 eu simplesmente achei que os dois elementos ficavam bonitos juntos e continuo pensando exatamente a mesma coisa hoje.

Espero que este pequeno relançamento permita que novos visitantes conheçam um dos primeiros modelos originais do Papermau e que aqueles que acompanham o blog há muitos anos possam reviver um pedacinho daquela fase inicial, agora em uma versão mais organizada e muito mais fácil de montar.

Steampunk Mansion Papercraft - By Papermau - Coming Next Week!

Today I would like to share a small preview of one of the original models I have been working on over the past few weeks. This Steampunk Mansion is almost finished and, if everything goes according to plan, it should be published here on Papermau sometime next week.

The project combines elements of Victorian architecture with mechanical details such as exposed pipes, gears and weathered metal panels, creating the industrial fantasy atmosphere that is so characteristic of the steampunk universe. The idea was to give the impression of an old building that, over many years, has been expanded, modified and repaired countless times by a group of rather eccentric inventors.

This project actually started out in a very simple way. My original intention was to create just another one-sheet little house, but as I kept adding one detail after another, it almost seemed to grow on its own, gaining towers, chimneys, pipes and all kinds of mechanical details until it became the model you see in these preview images. I think this kind of spontaneous evolution is one of the most enjoyable parts of the creative process because, quite often, the model itself ends up telling me what it still needs.

The templates are now practically finished. Only a few final adjustments and one last review remain before publication. As with all original Papermau models, this one will also be available as a free download.

Hoje gostaria de compartilhar uma pequena prévia de um dos modelos originais em que venho trabalhando nas últimas semanas. Esta Mansão Steampunk está praticamente pronta e, se tudo correr como planejado, deverá ser publicada aqui no Papermau em algum momento da próxima semana.

O projeto combina elementos da arquitetura vitoriana com detalhes mecânicos, como tubulações aparentes, engrenagens e chapas metálicas envelhecidas, criando aquela atmosfera de fantasia industrial típica do universo steampunk. A ideia foi transmitir a impressão de uma construção antiga que, ao longo de muitos anos, recebeu ampliações, adaptações e incontáveis reparos feitos por inventores um tanto excêntricos.

Este projeto começou de forma bastante simples. A intenção era criar apenas mais uma daquelas casinhas de uma folha só, mas, à medida que eu ia acrescentando um detalhe aqui e outro ali, ela foi crescendo quase por conta própria, ganhando torres, chaminés, tubulações e diversos elementos mecânicos, até chegar ao resultado que vocês veem nestas imagens. Acho que esse tipo de evolução espontânea é uma das partes mais divertidas do processo de criação, pois, muitas vezes, é o próprio modelo que acaba dizendo o que ainda falta nele.

Os templates já estão praticamente concluídos. Restam apenas alguns pequenos ajustes e uma última revisão antes da publicação. Como acontece com todos os modelos originais Papermau, este também será disponibilizado gratuitamente para download.

Roman Legionaries vs Barbarian Warriors Printable Paper Miniatures For Wargames And School Projects - by Papermau - Download Now!

This collection of paper miniatures was born from an idea I had while thinking about characters for wargames set during the Roman Empire. I decided to conduct an experiment using artificial intelligence and wrote a series of detailed prompts describing exactly what I wanted: Roman soldiers representing the Empire at the height of its military power, along with their best-known adversaries of the period, the Germanic peoples commonly referred to by the Romans as barbarians.

The result is this collection featuring two sheets of Roman legionaries in a variety of poses, two sheets of barbarian warriors in different combat stances, and two additional sheets filled with scenery accessories, including military standards, campaign tents, field kitchens, weapon racks, defensive palisades, sharpened stakes and other elements typically found in military camps of the period. Reaching this final result required more than ten different prompts, gradually refining details such as poses, proportions, scale, graphic style, equipment, accessories and character appearance until everything came together as a visually consistent collection.

The period portrayed here corresponds roughly to the first and second centuries AD, when the Roman Empire experienced what historians often call its Golden Age. Under emperors such as Trajan and Hadrian, Rome reached one of its greatest territorial expansions, ruling lands that today belong to dozens of countries across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Its legions were widely regarded as one of the most disciplined, organized and effective military forces of the ancient world.

Beyond Rome's frontiers lived many independent Germanic tribes, frequently referred to by the Romans as barbarians. The term did not necessarily mean savage or uncivilized. Rather, it described peoples whose languages, customs and traditions differed from those of Rome. Many of these tribes resisted Roman expansion for centuries and fought battles that became part of history, making them some of the most famous opponents ever faced by the Roman legions.

In this collection, neither the Romans nor the barbarians are portrayed as heroes or villains. They are simply warriors from different worlds, each defending their homeland, identity, traditions and way of life. On one side stood the discipline, organization and military efficiency of Rome. On the other stood the courage, independence and determination of the peoples who resisted along the Empire's frontiers. Each believed they were fighting to protect what mattered most to them.

To create these paper miniatures, I guided the artificial intelligence to use historical references for armor, shields, helmets, weapons, military standards, clothing and equipment characteristic of both sides of the conflict. The AI then developed the characters, scenery accessories and camp equipment based on those references while balancing historical authenticity with visual appeal. Although these models are not intended as strict archaeological reconstructions, the goal was to create attractive paper miniatures inspired by the best historical information currently available and to remain as faithful as reasonably possible to what historians believe these warriors may have looked like.

I hope this collection will be useful not only for tabletop wargames, but also for role-playing games, historical dioramas, school projects, displays or simply as a fun set of printable paper miniatures. Esta coleção de miniaturas de papel nasceu de uma ideia que tive enquanto pensava em personagens para wargames ambientados no período do Império Romano. Resolvi fazer um experimento utilizando inteligência artificial e escrevi prompts bastante detalhados, explicando que queria soldados romanos representando o auge do poder militar de Roma, além de seus principais adversários da época, os povos germânicos conhecidos pelos romanos como bárbaros.

O resultado foi esta coleção composta por duas folhas de legionários romanos em diferentes poses, duas folhas de guerreiros bárbaros, também em variadas posições de combate, e duas folhas extras com acessórios para montar pequenos cenários de batalha, incluindo estandartes, barracas de campanha, cozinhas de acampamento, suportes para armas, paliçadas, estacas defensivas e outros elementos típicos dos acampamentos militares da época. Para chegar a esse resultado foram necessários mais de dez prompts diferentes, refinando detalhes como poses, proporções, escala, estilo gráfico, equipamentos, acessórios e aparência dos personagens, até que tudo formasse um conjunto visualmente coerente.

O período retratado corresponde aproximadamente aos séculos I e II da nossa era, quando o Império Romano viveu sua chamada Idade de Ouro. Sob imperadores como Trajano e Adriano, Roma atingiu uma de suas maiores extensões territoriais, controlando regiões que hoje pertencem a dezenas de países da Europa, do Norte da África e do Oriente Médio. Suas legiões eram consideradas uma das forças militares mais disciplinadas, organizadas e eficientes da Antiguidade.

Do outro lado das fronteiras viviam diversos povos germânicos independentes, frequentemente chamados de bárbaros pelos romanos. O termo não significava necessariamente que fossem selvagens, mas sim que pertenciam a culturas diferentes da romana e não compartilhavam sua língua ou seus costumes. Muitas dessas tribos resistiram durante séculos ao avanço de Roma e protagonizaram batalhas que entraram para a história, tornando-se alguns dos mais conhecidos adversários das legiões.

Nesta coleção, romanos e bárbaros não são apresentados como heróis ou vilões. São apenas guerreiros de mundos diferentes, cada um defendendo sua terra, sua identidade, seus costumes e sua própria visão de mundo. De um lado estavam a disciplina, a organização e a impressionante máquina militar romana. Do outro, a coragem, a independência e a determinação dos povos que resistiam nas fronteiras do império. Cada um deles acreditava estar defendendo aquilo que considerava mais valioso.

Para criar estas miniaturas, eu orientei a inteligência artificial a utilizar referências históricas sobre armaduras, escudos, elmos, armas, estandartes, vestimentas e equipamentos característicos de cada lado do conflito. A IA então desenvolveu os personagens, os acessórios e os elementos de cenário inspirando-se nessas informações históricas e procurando manter um equilíbrio entre fidelidade histórica e apelo visual. Embora não se trate de uma reconstrução arqueológica rigorosa, o objetivo foi produzir personagens visualmente atraentes e baseados nas melhores referências históricas atualmente disponíveis, preservando uma aparência bastante próxima daquela que historiadores acreditam ter sido a realidade.

Acredito que este conjunto possa ser utilizado tanto em partidas de wargame quanto em RPG de mesa, dioramas, maquetes históricas ou simplesmente como uma divertida coleção de miniaturas de papel. Wide Front Garage Papercraft For Hot Wheels And Diecast Cars In 1/64 Scale - by Papermau - Download Now!

This project was born from a suggestion I often receive from readers of the blog: a garage for 1/64 scale miniatures with a wide front area, specially designed for displaying vehicles. With that in mind, I decided to rescue a model that had been partially finished since 2015 and finally give it the attention it deserved.

Starting from that original structure, I significantly enlarged the front area of the building, creating a more open space suitable for displaying cars, pickup trucks, vans and other miniature vehicles. The scene includes paved entrances made of cement slabs, grassy areas and a strip of asphalt at the front, forming a simple but very versatile setting for dioramas of different styles.

Readers who have followed the blog for a longer time may notice that the assembly tabs are simpler than in some of my more recent works. This is because I preserved much of the original structure generated in Pepakura. Besides that, I really wanted to publish this model soon, before it ended up spending another ten years forgotten inside some virtually dusty folder on my old computer.

One feature I consider quite practical is the division of the front area into two independent parts. Besides making assembly easier, this solution also helps when storing the diorama, since the floor can be kept more compactly when not in use.

The main building occupies four printed sheets and comes with two additional sheets entirely dedicated to accessories. Among them are loose tires, a tire rack, a soda machine, an ice machine, signs, assorted warning plates, workbenches and several other items that can be freely arranged throughout the scene.

The idea is that each modeler can create their own exclusive garage. Since the accessories can be arranged in many different ways, each build ends up gaining its own personality, becoming a unique setting for displaying miniatures.

Another interesting possibility is to build two garages and place them side by side at different angles. This makes it possible to create larger workshops, industrial building sets or small commercial areas, as can be seen in one of the presentation images of this post.

In the end, this is a simple, easy-to-build and very flexible model, designed to serve as a background for collections of 1/64 scale vehicles. I hope it will be useful for anyone looking for a spacious and customizable garage, capable of displaying everything from classic cars to custom projects and themed scenes.

Este projeto nasceu de uma sugestão que recebo com frequência dos leitores do blog: uma garagem para miniaturas em escala 1/64 com uma frente ampla, pensada especialmente para exposição de veículos. Para isso, resolvi recuperar um modelo que estava parcialmente pronto desde 2015 e finalmente dar a ele a atenção que merecia.

Partindo daquela estrutura original, ampliei significativamente a área frontal da construção, criando um espaço mais aberto e adequado para exibir carros, caminhonetes, vans e outros veículos em miniatura. O cenário conta com entradas pavimentadas com placas de cimento, áreas gramadas e uma faixa de asfalto na parte frontal, formando um conjunto simples, mas bastante versátil para dioramas de diferentes estilos.

Quem acompanha o blog há mais tempo talvez perceba que as abas de montagem estão mais simples do que em alguns dos meus trabalhos mais recentes. Isso acontece porque preservei grande parte da estrutura original gerada no Pepakura. Além disso, eu realmente queria publicar este modelo logo, antes que ele acabasse passando mais dez anos esquecido em alguma pasta virtualmente empoeirada do meu velho computador.

Uma característica que considero bastante prática é a divisão da área frontal em duas partes independentes. Além de facilitar a montagem, essa solução ajuda na hora de guardar o diorama, já que o piso pode ser armazenado de forma mais compacta quando não estiver em uso.

A construção principal ocupa quatro folhas impressas e acompanha mais duas folhas dedicadas exclusivamente aos acessórios. Entre eles estão pneus soltos, suporte para pneus, máquina de refrigerantes, máquina de gelo, placas, sinais variados, bancadas de trabalho e vários outros itens que podem ser distribuídos livremente pelo cenário.

A ideia é que cada modelista possa criar sua própria garagem exclusiva. Como os acessórios podem ser organizados de diversas maneiras, cada montagem acaba adquirindo personalidade própria, tornando-se um cenário único para exibição de miniaturas.

Outra possibilidade interessante é montar duas garagens e posicioná-las lado a lado em diferentes ângulos. Isso permite criar oficinas maiores, conjuntos de prédios industriais ou pequenas áreas comerciais, como pode ser visto em uma das imagens de apresentação deste post.

No final das contas, este é um modelo simples, fácil de montar e bastante flexível, pensado para servir como pano de fundo para coleções de veículos em escala 1/64. Espero que ele seja útil para quem procura uma garagem espaçosa, personalizável e capaz de acomodar desde carros clássicos até projetos customizados e cenários temáticos.

Here is another small stand/diorama in the same style as other models already published here on the blog, but this time with an atmosphere fully inspired by the cyberpunk universe, filled with neon lights, glowing signs, exposed pipes, worn concrete and that typical look of futuristic megacities seen in science fiction movies and videogames.

Just like the Hillbilly Garage Stand and other similar models already shown here on Papermau, this diorama was created especially for 1/64 scale miniatures, making it perfect for Hot Wheels, Matchbox and other diecast cars of the same size. The dimensions and assembly structure remain exactly the same as the previous models, changing only the textures and the entire visual identity.

The model fits on a single printed sheet and includes two complete stands on the same page, allowing you to build two separate dioramas or even combine both using the relief technique. The textures include wet concrete floors reflecting colorful lights, aged metallic doors, futuristic signs, illuminated panels, glowing windows and several small industrial details spread across the walls.

The assembly is simple and accessible even for beginners in the hobby and, for best results, I recommend printing on paper between 160 g/m² and 200 g/m². Those who wish can also add small LEDs to make the neon effect even more interesting.

A small tip for those who want to achieve that shiny, wet-looking effect seen in the photos: this can be done very easily by applying two or even three thin coats of regular white glue over the assembled parts. Simply use a medium-sized brush with soft or medium-soft bristles, spreading the glue as if you were painting the model. Once dry, the glue creates a subtle reflective finish on the floors and walls, while also helping to reinforce and “seal” the papercraft, protecting the colors against fading over time.

This small diorama is ideal for photographing miniatures, creating futuristic scenes, composing dystopian urban layouts or simply decorating your shelf with a compact scenario full of cyberpunk personality.

Eis aqui mais um pequeno stand/diorama no mesmo estilo de outros modelos já publicados aqui no blog, mas desta vez com uma atmosfera totalmente inspirada no universo cyberpunk, cheio de neon, placas luminosas, tubulações aparentes, concreto gasto e aquele visual típico das grandes metrópoles futuristas vistas em filmes e videogames de ficção científica.

O modelo ocupa apenas uma folha impressa e traz dois stands completos na mesma página, permitindo montar dois dioramas separados ou até combinar ambos usando a técnica de relevo. As texturas incluem pisos de concreto molhado refletindo luzes coloridas, portas metálicas envelhecidas, placas futuristas, painéis luminosos, janelas iluminadas e vários pequenos detalhes industriais espalhados pelas paredes.

A montagem é simples e acessível até mesmo para iniciantes no hobby e, para melhores resultados, eu recomendo imprimir em papel entre 160 g/m² e 200 g/m². Quem quiser poderá também adicionar pequenos LEDs para deixar o efeito neon ainda mais interessante.

Uma pequena dica para quem quiser conseguir aquele efeito brilhante e meio molhado visto nas fotos: isso pode ser feito muito facilmente aplicando duas ou até três camadas finas de cola branca comum sobre as peças já montadas. Basta usar um pincel médio, de cerdas não muito duras, espalhando a cola como se estivesse pintando o modelo. Depois de seca, a cola cria um leve acabamento refletivo no piso e nas paredes, além de ajudar a reforçar e “blindar” o papercraft, protegendo as cores contra o desbotamento com o passar do tempo.

Este pequeno diorama é ideal para fotografar miniaturas, montar cenas futuristas, compor layouts urbanos distópicos ou simplesmente decorar a estante com um cenário compacto cheio de personalidade cyberpunk.

An Old Rusty Chevy ’52 Pickup - My First Hot Wheels Custom Project

This small rusty Chevy ’52 is my very first attempt at customizing a Hot Wheels diecast car. The original model used here was a 2006 Hot Wheels Hot Rod Shop ’52 Chevy, which originally had a clean glossy paint job and several decorative decals.

The first thing I did was disassemble the pickup, exactly as I had seen in some YouTube videos: using a thin metal drill bit and a lot of patience, I carefully “removed” the two rivets on the underside and separated the vehicle into three parts: the body, the red transparent windshield and windows piece and the base with the wheels.

Before even starting the painting process, I decided to lower the pickup, and that turned out to be much easier than I expected. I simply sanded the wheel supports a little and that alone was enough to give the truck a lower and more aggressive stance. I also thought about making rubber tires, but the tutorials I found looked a bit too complicated and required heat guns and other materials that I did not have at hand. So, at least for now, I decided to keep the original wheels.

The next step was removing the original decals using a cotton swab soaked in acetone. Then, using cotton also soaked in acetone, I managed to remove most of the original clear coat from the model, leaving the white paint looking duller, worn and slightly faded by time.

And then came the most fun part of the whole experience. I used red acrylic paint applied manually with a regular brush, giving the entire model two coats. After letting it dry properly for two days, I covered everything with a coat of matte black acrylic paint, also applied with a brush.

After another two days of drying time, I started the process that truly created the final effect. Once again using cotton swabs soaked in acetone, I carefully removed parts of the black and red paint. Little by little, with the mixture of those two colors reacting with the acetone, the rusty effect began to appear in a completely unpredictable and organic way.

The final result was exactly what I had imagined: an old pickup forgotten for twenty years inside a damp leaking barn. Almost like those abandoned vehicles sometimes found hidden behind old garages or forgotten rural farms.

Honestly, I enjoyed the experience so much that I am already thinking about future customs. I think I may have just discovered another hobby inside the hobby.

Este pequeno Chevy ’52 enferrujado é minha primeira tentativa de customização de um carrinho Hot Wheels. O modelo original usado aqui foi um Hot Wheels Hot Rod Shop ’52 Chevy, lançado em 2006, que originalmente tinha pintura limpa, brilhante e vários adesivos decorativos.

A primeira coisa que fiz foi desmontar a pickup, fazendo exatamente como vi em alguns vídeos no YouTube: com uma broca de ferro fina e muito cuidado, “desfiz” os dois rebites da parte inferior e desmontei o veículo em três partes: a carroceria, o acrílico vermelho do para-brisa e janelas e a base com as rodas.

Antes mesmo de começar a pintura, resolvi rebaixar a pickup, e isso acabou sendo bem mais fácil do que eu imaginava. Apenas desgastei um pouco os suportes das rodas e isso já foi suficiente para dar ao carrinho uma aparência mais baixa e agressiva. Pensei também em fazer pneus de borracha, mas os tutoriais que encontrei me pareceram um pouco complicados demais e exigiam pistola de calor e outros materiais que eu não tinha em mãos. Então, pelo menos por enquanto, decidi manter as rodas originais mesmo.

O próximo passo foi remover os adesivos originais utilizando um cotonete embebido em acetona. Depois, usando algodão também umedecido com acetona, consegui retirar boa parte do verniz original do carrinho, deixando a pintura branca com um aspecto mais opaco, gasto e levemente desbotado pelo tempo.

E então começou a parte mais divertida da experiência. Usei tinta acrílica vermelha aplicada manualmente com pincel comum, passando duas demãos em todo o modelo. Após deixar secar bem por dois dias, cobri tudo com uma camada de tinta acrílica preta fosca, também aplicada com pincel.

Mais dois dias de secagem depois, comecei o processo que realmente criou o efeito final. Novamente utilizando cotonetes embebidos em acetona, fui removendo cuidadosamente partes da tinta preta e da tinta vermelha. Aos poucos, com a mistura dessas duas cores com a acetona, o efeito ferruginoso começou a aparecer de forma totalmente imprevisível e orgânica.

O resultado foi exatamente o que eu queria: uma velha pickup esquecida durante vinte anos dentro de um celeiro úmido e cheio de goteiras. Quase como aqueles veículos abandonados que às vezes aparecem escondidos atrás de oficinas antigas ou fazendas esquecidas no interior.

Sinceramente, gostei tanto da experiência que já estou pensando nos próximos customs. Acho que acabei descobrindo mais um hobby dentro do hobby.
