According to Gunnar, the Tordmulen could be recognized from afar by the “large white mustache of foam” that surrounded its bow as it sliced through the water.
It was aboard the Tordmulen that Gunnar first learned to read nautical charts, to navigate, and, above all, to fall in love with life at sea.
The journeys between Stockholm and the family’s summer home in Ägnö, along with stops in the many beautiful natural harbors of the Swedish coast, left a lasting impression on him, blending a deep respect for nature with a sense of adventure and strong family bonds.
The name Tordmulen is also the Swedish name for the bird Alca torda (razorbill), which inhabits coastal areas of the North Atlantic.
The paper model of the Tordmulen is a realistic, compact, and finely executed representation. The entire model fits on a single A4 sheet, yet it impresses with its balance of structural simplicity and visual accuracy.

O nome do barco, aliás, vem da palavra sueca para o pássaro Alca Torda (razorbill, em inglês), que habita regiões costeiras do Atlântico Norte.
