Moai are monolithic human figures carved from rock on the Chilean Polynesian island of Easter Island between the years 1250 and 1500. Nearly half are still at Rano Raraku, the main moai quarry, but hundreds were transported from there and set on stone platforms called ahu around the island's perimeter. Moai são figuras humanas monolíticas esculpidas em rocha na Ilha de Páscoa, na Polinésia Chilena entre os anos de 1250 e 1500. Quase metade se encontram em Rano Raraku, a principal pedreira Moai, mas centenas foram transportados de lá e colocadas em plataformas de pedra chamada ahu em torno do perímetro da ilha. Quase todos os Moai têm cabeças esxtremamente grandes, de três quintos do tamanho de seus corpos.
