Matsuyama Castle In Japan Paper Model - by Yoshinaka & STpers

 photo matsumaya.Castle.paper.model.0045_zpsnw9ysqgj.jpg
The Real Thing
Created by Japanese designers Yoshinaka and STpers, comissioned by Canon website, here is a beautiful paper model version of the Matsuyama Castle, in Japan. Matsuyama Castle is a flatland-mountain castle that was built in 1603 on Mount Katsuyama, whose height is 132 meters, in Matsuyama city in Ehime Prefecture. This castle was originally built by Kato Yoshiaki in 1603. It had a large five-story tenshu, or keep, which was moved to Aizu Castle when Kato was transferred there in 1627. The next lord, Tadachika Gamoh, died in 1635, shortly after completing the ninomaru. After Tadachika, Matsudaira Sadayuki became the new lord. He completed a new Castle Tower (tenshu) in 1642. His heirs continued to rule the castle after his death. However, on New Years Day, 1784, this Castle Tower (tenshu) was struck by lightning and burned down. The current Castle Tower (tenshu) was built between 1820 and 1854. The castle survived the Meiji restoration, but parts of it were destroyed by bombing from American forces during World War II. Since 1966, the city of Matsuyama has been working to restore the castle.

The Ephemeral Museum - Spanish Ship Monarca Paper Model
by Manuel Marquez

My friend, the Spanish designer and modeler Manuel Marquez created this very well done paper model of the Monarca Ship and kindly sent me, besides the beautiful photos and the incredible history, also a link so that everyone who likes, can download and assemble your own. Manuel said:

"Hello again, Mauther! I am sending to you one model I created to be published in your amazing blog. The Monarca ship participated in the Battle of Trafalgar in October 21, 1805, under the command of Captain Teodoro Argumosa, who wa sinjured in the course of the contest.

After fighting successively contra os navios Mars e Bellerophon, she surrended to the Bellerophon. The British captured the ship, but at night, the surviving Spanish sailors cut the sails and thrown them over the sea, remaining to the drift and at mercy of the storm that formed after the battle. The English ship Leviathan found them and rescued the British crew and also some Spanish sailors and abandoned the ship by storm.

On October, 28, the ship was wrecked on the coast of Arenas Gordas (Mazagón-Palos de la Frontera, Huelva, Spain), tipping its hull to the side. On October, 31, the British frigate Naid launched a charge of fire on the Monarch, so that it could not be rescued and put into action again.

I designed this model based on the profile published on the website Todo a Babor and on the paper model of the  HMS Victoria, from Micro Models. I recommend that you print the first two templates in format 13x18 and the sails templates in the existing format."

 Manuel Marquez

About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like. With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. So, this is the Ephemeral Museum , a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years. I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

mautherous@gmail.com

All who submit their work will be published, without exceptions.
