About the Ephemeral Museum:

I "am in the paper modeling" since 2005, although I've had contact with paper models from my childhood in the 1970s, via magazines that were sold sporadically in newsagents. I remember magazines with houses to build and dioramas/playsets of airports, western forts, nativity scenes and the like. With the advent of the internet what happened was simply a revival of the papercraft hobby for me and many other people of my generation. Today I am opening a new session here on the blog, the Ephemeral Museum , which is a place where I will show some of the models that I built all these years. I would also like this to be a space where all modelers friends could show their work, so if anyone wants to participate in this "museum", just send photos of your work and a few words, if you want, to the e-mail:

Eu "estou no papelmodelismo" desde 2005, embora eu já tivesse contato com modelos de papel desde minha infância, nos anos 1970, via revistas que eram vendidas esporadicamente em bancas de jornal. Lembro que haviam revistas com casas para montar e dioramas/playsets de aeroportos, fortes-apache, presépios e coisas do tipo. Com o advento da internet o que houve foi simplesmente um renascimento do hobby do papelmodelismo para mim e muitas outras pessoas de minha geração. Hoje eu estou inaugurando uma nova sessão aqui no blog, o Ephemeral Museum, que é um lugar aonde irei mostrar alguns dos modelos que eu construí em todos estes anos. Também gostaria que esse fosse um espaço aonde todos os amigos modelistas pudessem mostrar seus trabalhos, sendo assim, se alguém quiser participar deste "museu", basta mandar fotos de seu trabalho e algumas palavras para o e-mail abaixo:

2018`s Year Of The Dog - A Lot Of Dogs Paper Toys - by Tina Kraus

It may seem a little late (we have already passed the middle of the year) to post this paper toys for the Year of the Chinese Dog, but it's still 2018, is not it? This nice paper model of a lot of Inu Dogs were created by German designer Tina Kraus to celebrate the Chinese Year Of The Dog. 2018 is the Year of the Dog according to Chinese zodiac. This is a Year of Earth Dog, starting from Feb. 16, 2018 (Chinese New Year) and lasting to Feb. 4, 2019. Dog is the eleventh in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac sign. The Years of the Dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030, 2042... - Dog is man's good friend who can understand the human's spirit and obey its master, whether he is wealthy or not. The Chinese regard it as an auspicious animal. If a dog happens to come to a house, it symbolizes the coming of fortune. The invincible God Erlang in Chinese legend used a loyal Wolfhound to help him capture monsters. - You will also find the mascots of previous years, since 2011, as you can see on the last image of this post.

Estes modelos de papel bem bacanas de vários Cães Inu foram criados peladesigner alemã Tina Kraus para celebrar o Ano do Cão Chinês. 2018 é o Ano do Cachorro de acordo com o zodíaco chinês. Este é um ano do Cão-Terra, que começa em 16 de fevereiro de 2018 (ano novo chinês) e que vai até 4 de fevereiro de 2019. O cão é o décimo primeiro no ciclo de 12 anos do signo chinês do zodíaco. Os Anos do Cão incluem 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030, 2042 ... - O cão é o melhor amigo do homem, que pode entender o espírito humano e obedecer seu mestre, sendo ele rico ou não. Os chineses consideram isso como um animal auspicioso. Se um cão entra em uma casa, isso simboliza a chegada da fortuna. O invencível Deus Erlang na lenda chinesa usou um leal Wolfhound para ajudá-lo a capturar monstros. - . Banksy`s Girl With Balloon Graffiti Paper Model - by Papermau A Work In Progress

I believe everyone read, saw or heard about this Banksy graffiti/painting, "Girl With Balloon", which was semi-destroyed in loco after being auctioned for a record price. I'm thinking of a way to recreate in paper the mechanism used by Banksy to simulate the destruction of the work.

Balloon Girl (or Girl with Balloon) is a 2002 mural by graffiti artist Banksy depicting a young girl letting go of a red heart-shaped balloon. Banksy has used a variant of this image in his 2014 campaign supporting Syrian refugees. Another variant Banksy created for the 2017 United Kingdom general election generated controversy after he offered free prints for some anti-Conservative voters, and he soon retracted the offer. A 2017 poll ranked Balloon Girl as the United Kingdom's number one favourite artwork. In March 2014, the third anniversary of the Syria conflict, Banksy reworked the painting to depict a Syrian refugee and added the hashtag #WithSyria.


Shredding at auction - On 5 October 2018, a 2006 framed copy of the artwork was auctioned at Sotheby's selling for £1,042,000 – a record high for the artist. Moments after the closing bid, the artwork began to self-destruct by means of a hidden mechanical paper shredder that Banksy had built into the frame bottom. Only the lower half shredded. Banksy released an image of the shredding on Instagram with the words "Going, going gone...". Sotheby's said "We have not experienced this situation in the past where a painting spontaneously shredded", leading some market watchers to speculate the remains of the painting will be worth even more. Banksy released a video (below) of the shredding and how the shredder was installed into the frame in case the picture ever went up for auction. The women who won the bidding at the auction decided to go through with the purchase. The partially shredded work has been given a new title, Love Is in the Bin, and was authenticated by Banksy's authentication body Pest Control. Sotheby's released a statement that called it "the first artwork in history to have been created live during an auction."
