This realistic paper model of an Octupus came from Japan, offered by Akashi City website. The octopus is a cephalopod mollusc of the order Octopoda. Octopuses have two eyes and four pairs of arms and, like other cephalopods, they are bilaterally symmetric. An octopus has a hard beak, with its mouth at the center point of the arms. Octopuses have no internal or external skeleton (although some species have a vestigial remnant of a shell inside their mantles), allowing them to squeeze through tight places. Octopuses are among the most intelligent and behaviorally flexible of all invertebrates. The octopus inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, including coral reefs, pelagic waters, and the ocean floor. They have numerous strategies for defending themselves against predators, including the expulsion of ink, the use of camouflage and deimatic displays, their ability to jet quickly through the water, and their ability to hide. An octopus trails its eight arms behind it as it swims. All octopuses are venomous, but only one group, the blue-ringed octopus, is known to be deadly to humans. Around 300 species are recognized, which is over one-third of the total number of known cephalopod species. The term 'octopus' may also be used to refer specifically to the genus Octopus. - Wikipedia


Os polvos são moluscos marinhos da classe Cephalopoda, da ordem Octopoda (Oito Pés), possuindo oito braços com fortes ventosas dispostas à volta da boca. Como o resto dos cefalópodes, o polvo tem um corpo mole, sem esqueleto interno (ao contrário das lulas) nem externo, como o argonauta. Como meios de defesa, o polvo possui a capacidade de largar tinta, como camuflagem (através dos cromatóforos), e autotomia de seus braços. Os polvos possuem oito braços, ao contrário das lulas e sépias, que, além dos oito braços, possuem dois tentáculos. O hectocótilo que atua na hora da reprodução é um braço modificado. Dado que os seus membros são usados na locomoção, também se pode referir aos polvos como octópodes. Todos os polvos são predadores e alimentam-se de peixes, crustáceos e outros invertebrados, que caçam com os braços e matam com o bico quitinoso. By Japanese designer Bocci, here is Kasa-Obake , the Umbrella Ghost, a Hauntings From Japan Series paper toy. I am glad Mr. Bocci continue with this series because this is a very interesting theme. Kasa-obake are a mythical ghosts or yōkais in Japanese folklore. They are sometimes considered a tsukumogami that old umbrellas turn into. They are also called "karakasa-obake", "kasa-bake" and "karakasa kozō". They are generally umbrellas with one eye and jump around with one leg, but sometimes they have two arms or two eyes among other features, and they also sometimes depicted to have a long tongue. Sometimes, but rarely, they even have two feet, as depicted in the yokai emaki such the "Hyakki Yagyo Zumaki". - Wikipedia


Do designer japonês Bocci, aqui está HKasa-Obake, o Guarda-Chuva Assombrado, um paper toy da Série de Assombrações do Japão. Fico contente que o Sr. Bocci continue com essa série porquê é um tema bem interessante. Karakasa-obake ou Kasa-obake é um youkai japonês, um tsukumogami, ou seja, um espírito que origina-se de objetos com mais de 100 anos, dando-lhes vida. Os karakasa em particular são espíritos de guarda-chuvas que atingem os 100 anos. São geralmente representados com um olho, uma língua longa saindo de sua boca e apenas uma perna que calça uma geta, espécie de calçado japonês. Algumas vezes tem dois braços e dois olhos e raramente se apresentam com dois pés. - Wikipedia
