Artistic Interpretation Of A Triceratops

Triceratops is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur which lived during the late Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous Period, around 68 to 65 million years ago (Mya) in what is now North America. It was one of the last dinosaur genera to appear before the great Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event. The term Triceratops, which literally means "three-horned face," is derived from the Greek τρί- (tri-) meaning "three", κέρας (kéras) meaning "horn", and ὤψ (ops) meaning "face". Bearing a large bony frill and three horns on its large four-legged body, and conjuring similarities with the modern rhinoceros, Triceratops is one of the most recognizable of all dinosaurs and the best known ceratopsid. It shared the landscape with and was preyed upon by the fearsome Tyrannosaurus, though it is less certain that the two did battle in the manner often depicted in traditional museum displays and popular images. - Wikipedia

O tricerátopo (Triceratops horridus, do latim "cabeça com três chifres") foi um tipo de dinossauro herbívoro e quadrúpede que viveu no fim do período Cretáceo, principalmente na região que é hoje a América do Norte. O tricerátopo possuía enormes chifres e, ao que se sabe, foi o maior de todos os dinossauros com essa característica, media em torno de 9 metros de comprimento, 3 metros de altura e pesava em torno de 6 toneladas. A descoberta do primeiro crânio de tricerátopo ocorreu em 1888 em Denver, no estado americano do Colorado. Já em 1889, um ano após a descoberta, Othniel Charles Marsh fez a nomeação oficial da espécie. É um dos dinossauros mais conhecidos do público, tendo aparecido no filme Jurassic Park de Steven Spielberg. Nos Estados Unidos, é um dos símbolos oficiais do Wyoming. Há indícios que, na verdade, ele seja a versão jovem do torossauro, porém ainda não há provas irrefutáveis. - Wikipedia

São Paulo, minha cidade e a maior metrópole da América Latina, comemora hoje 459 anos e para celebrar, apresento neste post, um modelo que foi originalmente postado aqui no blog no dia 3 de Agosto de 2011 e está diretamente ligado com a história de São Paulo: a Capela de São Miguel Arcanjo.

São Paulo, my city and the largest metropolis in Latin America, today completes 459 years and to celebrate, I present in this post, a model that was originally posted here on the blog on August 3, 2011 and is directly connected with the history of São Paulo : the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel.

Uma pequena capela foi construída por volta de 1550 e foi substituída em 1622, pela capela que hoje conhecemos, conforme indicado nas inscrições da verga da porta principal.
Sob a orientação do carpinteiro e bandeirante Fernão Munhoz, a Capela de São Miguel Arcanjo foi construída pelos índios guaianases em 1622. Ela é a única construção na cidade de São Paulo que, depois da reforma que sofreu no século XVII, conserva-se totalmente original, com paredes em taipa de pilão. A igreja foi um dos primeiros prédios tombados pelo Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (atual Iphan), em 1938.
É o templo católico mais antigo da cidade de São Paulo e integra um conjunto de monumentos coloniais.

Built in 1550 and completely rebuilt in 1622, the Archangel St Michael Chapel is the most ancient church of Sao Paulo and i one of the most ancient of Brazil.
Built by the jesuits and explorers (bandeirantes), with the help of the indians of the region, this church had the function of strategic point of defense.

The Parthenon is a temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the maiden goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Its construction began in 447 BC when the Athenian Empire was at the height of its power. It was completed in 438 BC, although decoration of the Parthenon continued until 432 BC. It is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, generally considered the culmination of the development of the Doric order. Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of Greek art. The Parthenon is regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece and of ancient democracy and one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. The Greek Ministry of Culture is currently carrying out a program of selective restoration and reconstruction to ensure the stability of the partially ruined structure. - Wikipedia

O Partenon ou Partenão foi um templo da deusa grega Atena, construído no século V a.C. na acrópole de Atenas. É o mais conhecido dos edifícios remanescentes da Grécia Antiga e foi ornado com o melhor da arquitetura grega. Suas esculturas decorativas são consideradas um dos pontos altos da arte grega. O Partenon é um símbolo duradouro da Grécia e da democracia, e é visto como um dos maiores monumentos culturais da história da humanidade. O nome Partenon parece derivar da monumental estátua de Atena Partenos abrigada no salão leste da construção. Foi esculpida em marfim e ouro por Fídias e seu epíteto parthenos refere-se ao estado virginal e solteiro da deusa. O Partenon foi construído para substituir um antigo templo destruído por uma invasão dos persas em 480 a.C. Como muitos templos gregos, servia como tesouraria, onde se guardavam as reservas de moeda e metais preciosos da cidade e também da Liga de Delos, que se tornaria mais tarde o império ateniense. No século VI foi convertido numa igreja cristã dedicada à Virgem Maria e depois da conquista turca foi transformada numa mesquita. Em 1687, um depósito de munição instalado pelos turcos explodiu após ser atingido por uma bala de canhão veneziana, causando sérios danos ao edifício e a suas esculturas. No século XIX, o diplomata britânico Thomas Bruce, 7.° Conde de Elgin, removeu muitas das esculturas sobreviventes para a Inglaterra, hoje conhecidas como Mármores de Elgin e expostas no Museu Britânico, em Londres. Uma disputa polêmica pede o retorno dessas peças à Grécia. Studio Ghibli, Inc. is a Japanese animation film studio based in Koganei, Tokyo, Japan. The studio is best known for its anime feature films. Studio Ghibli began in June 1985 after the success of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind with funding by Tokuma Shoten. The company's logo features the character Totoro (a large forest spirit) from Miyazaki's film My Neighbor Totoro. At one time the studio was based in Kichijōji, Musashino, Tokyo.
Studio Ghibli has produced seventeen feature films, beginning with Castle in the Sky in 1986. It was followed by Grave of the Fireflies (1988), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki's Delivery Service (1989), Only Yesterday (1991), Porco Rosso (1992), Pom Poko (1994), Whisper of the Heart (1995), Princess Mononoke (1997), My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999), Spirited Away (2001), The Cat Returns (2002), Howl's Moving Castle (2004), Tales from Earthsea (2006), Ponyo (2008), Arrietty (2010), and From Up on Poppy Hill (2011). Sixteen of the films received both critical and financial success, with the notable exception being Tales from Earthsea, which, in spite of its commercial success, achieved less critical praise than Ghibli's other productions. The studio has also produced several short films and television commercials, as well as Ocean Waves, a television film. Eight of Studio Ghibli's films are among the 15 highest-grossing anime films, with Spirited Away being the highest, grossing over $274 million worldwide. - Wikipedia


“O Quente Vento do Deserto do Sahara”. Para muitos, essa frase pode não fazer sentido algum, mas para Hayao Miyazaki, esse vento que se chama Ghibli seria aquele mudaria para sempre a história da animação mundial. Graças ao sucesso alcançado por Nausicaä do Vale do Vento (Kaze no Tani no Naushika), nasce em 1985 o Studio Ghibli. Sua história, porém, começa a nascer 30 anos antes com o encontro de Hayao Miyazaki e Isao Takahaka, futuros pais do estúdio. Em 1974 os dois se encontravam durante a produção de um Anime de grande sucesso no mundo inteiro – inclusive no Brasil -, Heidi Arupusu no Shojo Haiji). Enquanto Takahaka dirigia as séries, Miyazaki fazia um trabalho sobre-humano para conseguir desenhar o layout de cada episódio detalhadamente. Isso fez com que os dois percebessem que para fazer as animações de alta qualidade, como desejavam, precisariam de um tipo de mídia onde os prazos não fossem tão apertados como são nas séries de televisão. Foi assim que surgiu a idéia da criação de um estúdio para produzir filmes cuidadosamente desenhados, com enredo e qualidade impecáveis, e o mais importante, de seu próprio jeito. ASIMO is a humanoid robot created by Honda. Introduced in 2000, ASIMO, which is an acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, was created to be a helper to people. With aspirations of helping people who lack full mobility, ASIMO is used to encourage young people to study science and mathematics. At 130 cm (4 feet, 3 inches) tall and 54 kg (119 lbs), ASIMO was designed to operate in real-world environments, with the ability to walk or run on two feet at speeds up to 6 kilometres per hour (3.7 mph). In the USA, ASIMO is part of the Innoventions attraction at Disneyland and has been featured in a 15-minute show called "Say 'Hello' to Honda's ASIMO" since June 2005. - Wikipedia


ASIMO é um robô humanóide de 1,20 metros de altura e 52 quilogramas produzido pela Honda. Seu nome, curiosamente, não é uma referência ao escritor russo de ficção científica Isaac Asimov. Em japonês, ASIMO é pronunciado ashimo, que significa algo como "também com pernas". A sigla ASIMO em Ingles significa Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility ou seja Desenvolvimento Avançado em inovações para Mobilidade. Ele pode andar em superficies irregulares, virar-se, pegar coisas e reconhecer pessoas através de suas cameras que funcionam como olhos. O ASIMO foi criado pelos engenheiros da Honda, que levaram 17 anos trabalhando em seu desenvolvimento,, os quais o ajustaram de tal forma que agora o ASIMO pode correr, com movimentos mais fluidos, atingindo uma velocidade máxima de até 9 quilômetros por hora. - Wikipedia
