The First Model Posted At The Blog in June, 22, 2011

Hello, my name is Mauther and I am from Brazil. I am married with Nanda and have two daughters, Malú and Maiú. I am into paper models since 2002, more or less and I`ve started create my own models in 2003 or 2004, using MsPaint. I think papercraft is a cheap therapy, an almost no cost hobby and is for all ages.

Practically anything can be built with paper, from architectural models, military and civilian vehicles, boats, airplanes, characters from all existing media, animals, plants, planets, etc. Think of something and there will probably be a model made of paper, simpler or more complex than you imagined. There is not a hobby in which the idea that imagination is the limit falls as well as in papercraft.

If you want to write to me to share a model that you find or created, to share some idea or tip about this hobby, to ask about a specific model that you not find here or another place, or just to say hello, please, let a message in the comments of this post or write to my e-mail:

mautherous@gmail.com

Will be a pleasure talk to you and share ideas! All the best, thanks for the visit and greetings from Brazil!

Mauther

Of all the models I created, this is my favorite

Olá, meu nome é Mauther e eu sou do Brasil.

Mauther

Half-Life 2 Dog Papercraft - by GOLLUM 999 Papercraft - Robô Cão de Half-Life 2

D0g (also known as D0G, DØg or just Dog) is a fictional character in the Half-Life series of video games, first introduced in Half-Life 2 in 2004.

D0g is hulking robot owned by Alyx Vance whose father, Eli, built it to both celebrate and protect his daughter. Alyx subsequently upgraded the robot into its current form.

His character provides comic relief during the series; his battle sequences are often comically exaggerated, such as taking on small enemy squads by throwing cars and trucks at them.

His appearance as the first character seen in Half Life 2: Episode One was influenced by positive fan reception.

New And Old World Trade Center Complex - by Tim - via Skyscraper City

The Original World Trade Center...
The original World Trade Center was a complex with seven buildings featuring landmark twin towers in Lower Manhattan, New York City, United States. The complex opened on April 4, 1973, and was destroyed in 2001 during the September 11 attacks. The site is currently being rebuilt with five new skyscrapers and a memorial to the casualties of the attacks. As of November 2011, only one skyscraper has been completed, with four more expected to be completed before 2020. One World Trade Center will be the lead building for the new complex and is expected to be finished by 2013. A sixth tower is still awaiting confirmation to be built. At the time of their completion, the original 1 and 2 World Trade Center, known colloquially as the Twin Towers, were the tallest buildings in the world. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Al-Qaeda-affiliated hijackers flew two 767 jets into the complex, one into each tower, in a coordinated terrorist attack. After burning for 56 minutes, the South Tower collapsed, followed a half-hour later by the North Tower, with the attacks on the World Trade Center resulting in 2,753 deaths. 7 World Trade Center collapsed later in the day and the other buildings, although they did not collapse, had to be demolished because they were damaged beyond repair. The process of cleanup and recovery at the World Trade Center site took eight months. The first new building at the site was 7 World Trade Center, which opened in May 2006. The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC), established in November 2001 to oversee the rebuilding process, organized competitions to select a site plan and memorial design. Memory Foundations, designed by Daniel Libeskind, was selected as the master plan, which included the 1,776-foot (541 m) One World Trade Center, three office towers along Church Street and a memorial designed by Michael Arad. - Wikipedia

...and The New Complex
O processo de limpeza e recuperação do terreno do World Trade Center durou oito meses. - Wikipedia

Taj Mahal in India Paper Model - by Epson - Mausoléu de Mumtaz Mahal

The Real Thing
The Taj Mahal, the "crown of palaces", is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage."
Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural styles. In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar component of the Taj Mahal, it is actually an integrated complex of structures. The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, employing thousands of artisans and craftsmen. The construction of the Taj Mahal was entrusted to a board of architects under imperial supervision, including Abd ul-Karim Ma'mur Khan, Makramat Khan, and Ustad Ahmad Lahauri. Lahauri is generally considered to be the principal designer. - Wikipedia

Taj Mahal Dome Exterior
- Wikipedia

1915 Giant Russian War Tank Prototype - by Homespunmagixx

Photobucket

Photobucket"The Tzar Tank of Capt. Lebedenko - In the history of armored fighting vehicles, probably the strangest would have to be The Russian Lebedenko or Tzar Tank. Developed in the earliest days of tank development, it was not alone amongst many other strange designs. Conceived by the engineer N. Lebedenko in 1914 who at that time was employed by a private firm working for the Russian War Dept., the tank was essentially an enlarged gun carriage. Working with N. Zhukovskiy and his nephews, B. Stechkin and A. Mikulin, they designed a motorized battle machine weighing approx. 40 tons with 2 large spoked wheels in the front about 9 meters in diameter tapering in the back to a much smaller double wheel used for steering. Between, the hull of the tank hung from the front wheels supported on a pair of tuning-fork like arms. The large front wheels, it was hoped, would give the tank the ability to cross practically any obstacle". - Homespunmagixx

- Homespunmagixx

The Real Thing

..."The construction progressed pretty quick and at the end of July 1915, the Nepotir was ready for it’s first trials. Because of it’s weight and size, it was designed to be transported in sub-assemblies, to be assembled again before action at the front (like it was later envisioned for the huge German K-Wagen). This procedure was followed, and the sub-assemblies were transported to the testing ground, some 60 km from Moscow. At the re-assembly it was found out that the weight of the machine exceeded calculations with some 50%, due to the use of thicker metal. In August the test began in front of a high commission. It started well. The vehicle moved well over some firm ground, crashed a tree, but then went into a soft patch, where the small double wheel got stuck in a ditch. Soon it was obvious that the engines were to small, as they were unable to free the rear double wheel. After this fiasco, two of the designers, Mikulin and Stechkin, worked on equipping the vehicle with more powerful engines, but this plan was never fulfilled. The military had decided against the project. It was simply too expensive, it had thus far cost some 250.000 roubles. Also the vehicle (and then primarily it’s wheels) was deemed to be too vulnerable to artillery fire, which probably was quite true. (And by this time both France and Britain were near to completing new types of all-terrain armoured fighting vehicles, running on caterpillar tracks.)
The Lebedenko stood there, bogged down, for the rest of the war, but was finally scrapped in 1923". - read the complete text at: Landships.Freeservers.Com/Lebedenko
